Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! Review

There is a saying in literature, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” In anime, there is another similar one, “Don’t judge an anime by its first episode.” Some would argue more than that, but you get the idea. The first episode in any anime, more often than not, does not always represent what you will be getting for the rest of the show. In recent years, anime studios would have the idea of making the first episode the most eye-catching or batshit crazy one of the rest. Then the rest of the episodes come off tepid or dull compared to the first one. Watashi ni Tenshin ga Maiorita, shortened as WATATEN, fits as an example of this, although from a different result. It gets more fun and enjoyable from beginning to end. Continue reading

Amaenaide yo!! Review

poster-780

As a noted ecchi connoisseur, I always try to watch old ones that I never got the chance to see rather than wait for the two or three ecchi anime every season and pray they don’t suck. My experience started with the late 2000s with anime like Sora no Otoshimono and later To Love Ru seasons that morphed my obsession with this genre. I never fully experienced all ecchi before the 2010s except for a handful that many consider classics. This eventually led me to come across Amaneide yo!! randomly, or Ah My Buddha. After it was finished, I can safely say that this is definitely not one that many would consider a classic. Continue reading

Top Favorite Queen’s Blade Cuties

As a way to end off my Queen’s Blade Review-a-thon, I thought it would be nice to name off my favorite cuties from the series. I decided to not bother reviewing the small OVAs, spin-offs, and specials because there was honestly not much to say about any of them other than the fact that they are either fun and amusing or pointless and a waste of time. Also, one stipulation on this list is that there will be no Rebellion original characters because none of them were of any grandeur to speak of. The criteria for this list is how aesthetically pleasing the cuties are and how vibrant and colorful their personalities are. Continue reading

When you look at something like Queen’s Blade Rebellion at face value, you do not think immediately “cash grab.” Or at least you hope to god that it is not. Then while you are watching it, it is very clear that the reality of the situation is clear; and it is exactly what you feared it might be. A complete nothing cash grab with no soul or style to speak of. Continue reading

Queen’s Blade: Utsukushiki Toushitachi Review

Queen’s Blade Utsukushiki Toushitachi ova anime poster 2010 dvd

Calling this a 3rd season would be a stretch. Think of this OVA continuation as: “Here are six OVAs detailing how all the characters have gone about in their journeys after the previous season.” That is what we are dealing with in a nutshell. That is not to say this is a bad thing necessarily. But to put it out in just six episodes seems a bit fruitless and disappointing going into this. It is hard to evaluate this OVA without going over each episode, so that is what I will be doing through the remainder of this review. Continue reading
