Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou Review

Monster girls, monster girls everywhere. Imagine if they could be a part of a harem series with one lucky guy forced to take care of them by law. What’s that? The word harem immediately makes you instantly gag just from trying to enunciate that term? I don’t blame you. Great harem shows as of late have been a dime a dozen, besides the ones that were and are already in continuation. When new ones crop up, they do not add anything that is new or exciting, just more and more formulaic as time goes on. So what is to be done to amend this curse? Put in cute and sexy monster girls in it, of course! Continue reading

Nisekoi: Review

There have been a few sequels to anime that have been shameless filler in recent months. None of them were worth the hype that it originally sprouted upon announcement. However, that’s because they were story driven narratives that people took very seriously and wanted to know how the story and world would continue with the next continual season. One that definitely didn’t fit into this category was the sequel to the popular harem anime from 2014 called Nisekoi. For an anime that doesn’t  take its story or characters too seriously to begin with and have a sequel that is mostly comedic filler, that is just a continuation from the start. Continue reading

Nisekoi Review

It is that time of the season again. Where that legendary anime studio, that every anime fan and their mother knows the name of, Shaft, comes with another adaptation where they put their own technical chops into. Regardless of whatever manga or light novel they want to adapt, especially when Akiyuki Shinbo is head of production, they always want to shift their own spin on it to make it their own unique vision. The results are either really good or very mediocre. Thankfully with Shaft’s recent show, Nisekoi, it is one of those on their filmography that deserves to be on the former side of the spectrum. The World God Only Knows Review

There comes that one manga you find at the corner of your eye to where you can enjoy it whether you like the genre it consists of or not, all in the essence of parody and satire. Parody can be an extremely difficult comedic flavor to pull off perfectly. Not only do writers have to analyze the aspects of the things that they are trying to parody in the first place, but they have to make all of the things that make a good comedy work. These things include great comedic timing, sharp jokes that don’t feel forced, and great pacing in-between comedy segments. For manga that is focused on comedy, it can be quite a herculean task; but luckily with manga, you can go buck wild with the stroke of your drawing utensil and think of what works best. It takes a man like Tamiki Wakaki to make it seem like a pure cake walk to envision a perfect parody with The World God Only Knows. Continue reading

My Own Personal Harem

With the holiday of Valentine’s Day happening right now, everyone that has a girl in real life or in the cyber world will be spending their quality time of faithful partnership and beautiful harmony. Monogamy is considered the norm across all plateaus of human society. Even with the case of “2D Relationships”, there’s this need to be “pure” or “faithful” to one partner in particular to nourish and love with all you heart. But when push comes to shove, why not just love multiple women equally rather than one? Many will cry foul and be willing to call heretic on me, but they will never understand the fact that love is truly a cruel mistress, literally and figuratively, that one cannot begin to grasp. So with this in mind, I shall give you my Harem of wonderfully beautiful and faithful wives that have touched a place in my heart that many female characters have not. Continue reading
